A list isn’t just for Father Christmas
Coffee morning chat with a mate I meet most Sunday.
He said he had many tasks he wanted to do, but often felt overwhelmed. The list in his head was too long, and kept expanding.
I’ve become a list maker, not just as a way to remember what I need to do. I use it to measure my success and help me maintain a positive outlook.
As we spoke we were able to highlight his achievements and life improvements. His list could have shown the strides he had made - the steps taken to a less anxious time ahead.
Once we started the ball rolling he ran with it; mentioning other ways he had made a difference.
I hope as he rode home a more positive mindframe developed.
It’s what helped me, and I think it can help most people to at least take some control.
Adult life isn’t easy, with age it doesn’t get easier.
Taking a degree of control can give you so much back:
Better sleep.
More enjoyment of hobbies and passions.
A better family life.
Motivation to make more positive change.
