Solstice
The winter solstice and the end of the year is approaching. I’ve started to reflect on where I am and how I got here.
A year ago last weekend my life changed. And each day since has presented new challenges, and given me successes. I’ve learnt a lot about myself.
I’m more resliant than I thought possible. More self confident. And more self assured. Thanks in no small part to the family, friends around me and Moof IT.
That’s not to say I don’t still have a big hole that will never be filled though. And dealing with that is a work in progress.
I occured to me the two solstice’s sum up life as we live it.
A situation doesn’t always continually worsen, it does improve eventually. The days are getting shorter as we approach the 21st, but then they will start to lengthen. Similarly; we can’t expect it to be great all of the time. After the summer change on the 21st June we will have shorter days again. We don’t always notice because it’s only an small incremental adjustment.
We shouldn’t use the new year as our only period of life evaluation, do it regularly. Acknowledging achievement, change and progress could happen often. It’s too easy to be focused on the here and now, and miss the big picture.
